Hey everyone! Jessyka Coulter here and Synthia Dove, and today we're going to teach or tutor you all about the eight parts of speech and why you should bother learning them.
So, if you have ever wondered why that's important and/or you know what benefit that will give you, go ahead and click that like button. Let us know you're there, and feel free to give us some love with heart button or even leave us a comment. Let us know, “Hey, this is something I really want to know.”
Before we get into that, just in case you're wondering who we are and why we are talking to you, I am Jessyka Coulter, the CEO and Founder of Ace Cookie Tutoring, and this is one of my contractors. Hi. I am Synthia Dove, and I am a high school English or language arts teacher. So, that means she works with kids on reading, English, … all that good stuff.
So, you're here to learn about those eight parts of speech. The first reason why to bother learning those eight parts of speech is to determine the meaning of unknown words. That's really important when you're reading because you're gonna run into words you don't know. If you don't know one word, should you stop and run and get the dictionary? Maybe not. If you know how to do this process, you'll make a better decision.
Hopefully that makes some sense! And, if you're getting something out of this, great to hear that! I do have a great, FREE document that Synthia created for us, and if you'd love to get your hands on that, please fill out the contact us form on my website (www.acecookietutoring.com/contact-us) . So, just go to that link, send us a message, and we'll get that document to you right away. It's got a great activity in there to practice the parts of speech, and it's a good review in case you've always been a little confused.
So, we've got a couple more things we want to tell you. The next reason to learn the parts of speech is to help yourself learn other languages. There was a time when I was teaching about subjective and objective words, and I didn't think the students were getting anything out of it; I thought it was kind of pointless. Then, the Spanish teacher came to me and said, “Thank you so much for teaching the students that because now when I'm teaching them in Spanish, they understand what's going on.” So, it is something useful both in English and other languages.
Alright guys - so that's two of the reasons why to learn the parts of speech. We've got another one, but before that, I just want to check in and see how you guys are doing. If this is making sense, if you're learning a lot (that is our goal), just click that thumbs up button; let us know you're there and learning lots. Thank you so much!
The next thing we want to tell you is all about reading and writing. When you know what the parts of speech are, you can figure out who's doing something or what's doing something and what they're doing. If you can't do that, you don't comprehend very much. What this lesson does is it helps you recognize the subject and verb as well as increases your reading comprehension which can do nothing but help you throughout the rest of your life.
Ok guys. You've got the three reasons why it is so important to learn the eight parts of speech. So, if you're listening, and you're thinking, “You know? I want to be able to learn these new words. I want to learn how to improve my reading comprehension, and I really want to learn a new language - maybe something simple like Spanish or something more exotic like German or French.” You've got to get your hands on this document! If you want to get that document, send a message through my website (www.acecookietutoring.com/contact-us) or even send me a message via Facebook (www.facebook.com/acecookietutoring) - whatever works best for you. You’ll get a great review activity all about the parts of speech and a fun activity to practice. So, if you want to actually learn your parts of speech because maybe you've always struggled or maybe you think there’s no point because you’re “not good at English,” this is the time to change that.
Thank you so much for tuning in guys. We are so happy to have you and maybe Synthia will be kind enough to join us in a future video.
Have a great day everyone! Bye 😊
